2012 Arm Chair Adventures

Are you interested in signing up for a CrawDaddy trip but not sure what to expect - come to an evening armchair adventure.  See pictures, look at trails and hear stories of past adventures.  This is a great way to spend a winter evening.  Guest speakers will give presentations about their outdoor adventures also!

January 17- 2012 CrawDaddy Trip Preview (free)

Check out trips to northern Minnesota for skiing and snowshoeing, Sea Kayaking Apostle Islands and Picture Rocks National Lakeshore, and backpacking the Superior Hiking Trail.

January 24 - Hiking and Backpacking Glacier National Parks high mountain lakes - Zach Smith   $5

Zach spent the past 6 years exploring Glacier NP as he only lived a few hours away.  He will discuss preparation, gear, clothing, trip ideas, permits and fees and safety in bear country.

January 31- Canoeing the Winisk River in Canada - Vern Fish   $5  

The Winisk River flows north out Winisk Lake for 270 miles before entering Hudson Bay.  This river is one of Ontario's great northern canoe routes.  The first 100+ miles of the river cuts through the Canadian Shield over a series of waterfalls and long stretches of fast water and rapids.  There are "about" nine portages for the trip, most of these are in the first 70 miles.  The river is still flowing rapidly for last 100 miles but the paddler will experience far fewer rapids.  The river ends at Polar Bear Provincial Park on the coast of Hudson Bay.  Vern will share the experiences of a lifetime and try to talk you into joining him on one of these adventures.

February 7 - Mountaineering at Mt. Rainier - Steve Barfels    $5

Steve has made several trips to Mt. Rainier to do mountaineering.  Steve will show photos and video of his trip and discuss the preparation, gear, and other need to knows to do a big time adventure to Mt. Rainier.

February 14 - Valentines Day

February 21 - Exploring Argentina - Ben Porter    $5

Ben spent a semester abroad in Argentina studying and playing.  Ben will share his experiences in the outdoors and natural areas of Argentina.

February 28 - Sea Kayak Alaska - Forest Hoff and Hanna Craig   $5

Forest and Hanna spent last summer in Alaska as sea kayak guides.  They have a great presentation with awesome photos of sea kayaking with whales, orcas, and glaciers.
