CrawDaddy Outdoors --  The Next Generation

After 18 years in business, Darrin and Janeen Siefken announce the sale of CrawDaddy Outdoors to Jamie and Renee Borglum of rural Waverly.

CrawDaddy Outdoors opened in the fall of 2005 when Darrin purchased the remaining inventory from Shell Rock Hardware/ Outdoors who had operated as one of the few outdoor retail locations in the state for the previous 20 years. Darrin opened CrawDaddy Outdoors in the original Shell Rock Hardware Building in Shell Rock, Iowa. After six weeks of remodeling a new location, the store moved to 107 E Bremer Ave in Waverly. The original retail space was quickly outgrown and, in the spring of 2009, CrawDaddy Outdoors moved to their current, three-story location at 207 E Bremer Ave. Darrin’s passion for the outdoors and for education has shown through in the store’s retail presence and in the many trips and classes offered.

Over the years, the retail store has grown to be a hallmark of the Waverly Main Street as well as one of the largest kayak shops in the Midwest. In 2010, CrawDaddy Outdoors was recognized as the Main Street Iowa Business of the Year. The store has also received numerous recognitions and mentions from various vendors including the 2012 Johnson Outdoors Kayak Dealer of the Year. CrawDaddy Outdoors has also been featured on IPTV’s Iowa Entrepreneur and Iowa Outdoors.

"Jamie and Renee bring renewed energy and a plethora of ideas for both the retail store front and the experiential trips offered by CrawDaddy Outdoors. They are proud to continue the legacy of community involvement, quality products, awesome trips, and great service.”
